The Academy's mission is to provide quality golf instruction in a fun, friendly, and safe environment.  The Academy is located at the Klein's Golf Range in Madison, CT which is one of the finest practice facilities in the area for refining every facet of your game.

Jon C. Wilson is the owner/director of the Academy.  Jon is a member of the Connecticut Section PGA.  Jon has decades of experience providing golf instruction to the novice golfer through the experienced professional.  Jon was assistant coach for Yale University from 1983-1987.  He served as the head golf professional at the Alling Memorial GC, Laurel View CC, and Oronoque CC from 1988-2002.  Jon received the CT PGA Junior Golf Leader Award and also served on the CT PGA Board of Directors.  Jon is currently a regional coordinator and instructor for the First Tee of CT, which is an international junior golf initiative.  The Academy also participates in all PGA Play Golf America programs.

We offer a variety of individual and group lesson options.  You can create your own personal group program based upon your schedule preferences.  You can also participate in any programs we provide for the towns of Guilford and Madison recreation departments.  Please visit their respective websites or published seasonal flyers.

Summer golf schools for junior golfers will be offered in two formats, three-day schools for beginners and four-day schools for advanced players including high school team players.

New to the staff of 2009 Chris Hearn comes to Sound Approach Golf Academy from Woodbridge Country Club and other prominent clubs. He has over 20 years of experience in the golf industry and is a class A Member of the PGA of America.  Chris is married to his wife Kim for 12 years and has a 4 year old son, he resides in Fairfield County, but grew up in Westchester County.  Chris attended Sankaty Head Caddie Camp between the ages 12-18 and golf has been his life ever since. 

His teaching and coaching experience has given him the opportunity to work with people of all levels helping them to improve their skills and lower their scores.   Most importantly, he has taught many golfers to enjoy the game and their golfing experience.  Men, Women and Juniors have all benefited from his thorough and patient instruction techniques.  From beginner to low handicap players Chris will help your game.
